As a member you are notified on a wire when your friends add new photos, change their profile, make comments, add casting, or contribute to forums as well as when they update their blogs. You do not have to beg for attention by working to notifiy everyone, and you can ignore the wire and avoid all that attention seeking.
Models and photographers who do not already own web site will benefit from the ability to create their very own web site that comes complete with blogging software, if they wish to update it regularly, or they may leave it static with updates only when the portfolio changes or new shots are added. Modern blogging software comes with utilities built in that enhance your search engine ratings to build your fan base. Best of all it comes with a community of site members to help you attract viewers to your site.
If you already have a portfolio site a blog will provide you with the ability to drive traffic much more traffic to view your static portfolio.
The other sites do not even consider how to promote YOU outside of their site they are made to keep you and your work almost hidden from the public and provide no means to differentiate yourself from others and advance beyond the scope of their little worlds.
